Hohai University is a state key university under the direct jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education of China. It is a comprehensive university with research and study of water resources as its main focus, education of engineering subjects as its first priority, and coordinated development of engineering and science, economics, management, arts and law.
Under the direct command of the Ministry of Water Resources from 1958 to 2000, the University became one of the universities of “Project 211”(building 100 key universities in China in the 21st century), and one of the universities that set up Graduate School.
